Agbana Wonders and St Patrick’s emerged among the winners as the battle for supremacy intensified at the third Senate President’s U-18 Unity Cup in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

While Agbana Wonders of Ekiti dispatched Regnant FA 2-0, St Patrick’s matched that scoreline against Rich Destiny Academy of Bayelsa, with both teams delivering the goods in the men’s category.

The damage for Agbana Wonders was done before the break. Olarewaju Anderson and Mimiko Eric struck in the first half to put the Ekiti side in a commanding position, leaving Regnant FA with no way back into the contest.

St Patrick’s also had a two-goal hero of their own. Igwe Paul found the net in both halves to secure a comfortable win over Rich Destiny Academy and underline his importance to the Anambra-based side.

There was little to separate Essien Udim and Excellent Academy, whose encounter ended without a goal, while Rafia City and Powerful Boys served up a more eventful contest.

Powerful Boys drew first blood in the 11th minute when Alexander Samson connected with a header to put the Kaduna side ahead. Rafia City, however, fought back and levelled 16 minutes later through Victor Eyakeno’s penalty, ensuring both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

In the women's competition, Regnant Queens stole the spotlight with a commanding 3-0 victory over Dreams Alive Academy, the youngest side at the tournament.

Happiness Faith set the tone with the opening goal in the 23rd minute, and Faith Daniel struck five minutes later to give Regnant Queens a two-goal cushion before half-time.

Comfort Ekanem then put the result beyond doubt in the 67th minute, capping a convincing display from Regnant Queens.

The other women's fixtures produced no goals, as Flon Queens of Cross River and Solo Wonders cancelled each other out in a stalemate.

Sunday's meeting between Tanko Baba FC and Campos Feeders had also ended 0-0, before Monday's fixtures produced two victories in the men's category, one in the women's competition and three draws across the six matches.

With the competition bringing together emerging football talents under the age of 18, the coming fixtures will offer teams another opportunity to strengthen their claims for honours.
