Zidane names first France squad as Jacquet and four others earn debuts

France head coach Zinedine Zidane has unveiled his first squad since taking charge of Les Bleus, making five changes to the group ahead of the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Liverpool centre-back Jérémy Jacquet is among the most notable new faces after impressing during his debut season at Anfield. Goalkeeper Guillaume Restes, Inter Milan defender Andy Diouf, Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha and Rennes forward Estéban Lepaul have also received their first senior call-ups.

Zidane has retained several of France's established stars, with captain Kylian Mbappé leading an attack that also includes Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise. AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, along with defenders Ibrahima Konaté, Jules Koundé and Dayot Upamecano, are also part of the 23-man squad.

In midfield, Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga returns alongside Manchester City's Rayan Cherki, Roma's Manu Koné, AC Milan's Adrien Rabiot and Paris Saint-Germain's Warren Zaïre-Emery. Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix and Bournemouth full-back Adrien Truffert complete the defensive options.

Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni and Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram are among the notable absentees, while William Saliba and Theo Hernandez are also unavailable because of injuries.

Zidane will begin his France tenure against Türkiye on September 25 before travelling to Belgium three days later. Les Bleus will then face Italy and Belgium at home in October as the former Real Madrid boss begins his first international campaign in charge.
