NNL salutes Zulum as El-Kanemi Warriors seal CAF Confederation Cup progress
The Nigeria National League (NNL) has applauded Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, following El-Kanemi Warriors’ successful passage into the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The league body also praised the Maiduguri-based club’s players, coaches, management and supporters for their determined showing in the opening phase of the continental competition.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the NNL management and its 34 member clubs, the league described El-Kanemi’s achievement as a source of pride for Borno State and Nigerian football.
The NNL said the Warriors’ display in the preliminary round reflected “resilience, tactical discipline and fighting spirit”, qualities it noted were instrumental to their advancement.
Beyond the result, the league said El-Kanemi’s campaign had provided another indication of the ability of Nigerian clubs to make an impact on the African stage when adequately supported.
It further acknowledged Governor Zulum’s role in creating an environment for youth development and football to thrive in Borno State.
“The performance of El-Kanemi in the continental campaign is a testament to the vision of your leadership and an attestation of your government’s commitment to youth empowerment and football development,” the NNL said.
The league body described El-Kanemi Warriors as “a symbol of hope and excellence” and expressed confidence that their continental journey would continue to bring recognition to both Borno State and Nigerian football.
With the first hurdle successfully cleared, El-Kanemi Warriors now face the challenge of sustaining their momentum in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
