Falconets storm Into World Cup quarter-finals with win over England

Nigeria’s Falconets produced a commanding statement at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, sweeping aside England 3-0 in a dominant Round of 16 clash at the Bielsko-Biala Stadium.

Tosin Rafiu set the tone for Nigeria after just eight minutes, giving the Falconets an early advantage and putting England under immediate pressure. Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei doubled Nigeria’s lead shortly after the restart, before Mary Mamudu delivered the decisive blow in the 73rd minute to complete a comprehensive victory.

The emphatic triumph sends Nigeria into the quarter-finals, where they will face either Poland or Colombia on Sunday, September 20. The last-eight encounter is scheduled for 2pm WAT at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź, with the Falconets now just two wins away from a place in the World Cup final.
