Arsenal crushed! Brighton end Gunners’ perfect start with stunning 3-0 rout

Mikel Arteta was left with no excuses after Arsenal’s impressive start to their Premier League title defence was emphatically dismantled by Brighton & Hove Albion in a miserable 3-0 defeat on Saturday.

Arsenal arrived at the Amex Stadium with four consecutive league victories and just one goal conceded, but produced a performance that fell dramatically below the standards expected of a side chasing the Premier League title. Arteta’s team struggled to impose themselves, were second best in the physical battle and failed to respond as Brighton repeatedly exposed their weaknesses.

The Gunners looked short of their usual intensity and attacking sharpness throughout the contest, while Brighton played with greater aggression, energy and purpose. Arsenal were unable to find a way back into the game once their hosts gained control, leaving Arteta to watch his side suffer a damaging and thoroughly deserved defeat.

The loss brings Arsenal’s perfect league record to an abrupt end and drops them to second in the table on goal difference with 12 points from five matches. Brighton, meanwhile, move up to third with 10 points.

For Arteta, It was their heaviest defeat in all competitions since a 3-0 home loss to Brighton in May 2023 and another painful reminder of how quickly their standards can unravel when they fail to match their opponents’ intensity.
