Gusau resigns as NFF crisis nears its end
By Maxwell Kumoye
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has resigned from office alongside members of the federation’s Executive Committee, bringing his administration to an abrupt end.
Gusau’s resignation comes amid mounting criticism over Nigeria’s recent poor performances in international football and growing concerns about the direction of the country’s game.
The development occurs barely a month before the NFF elective congress, earlier scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The football stakeholders and the National Sports Commission (NSC) had moved to halt the electoral process and was considering a normalisation committee to oversee Nigerian football and organise a fresh election.
The resignation now sets the stage for a major reset in the administration of Nigerian football.
