Diri calls for love, unity and peace

The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, has called on Muslims to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

Diri, in a goodwill message to Muslim faithful in Bayelsa and across Nigeria, said the occasion should go beyond celebration and serve as a reminder of the values the Prophet represented, particularly love, compassion, unity and peaceful coexistence.

The governor’s message was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.

He urged Muslims to translate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad into actions by showing love to others, promoting good neighbourliness and supporting peaceful relations within their communities.

“As Muslims across the world mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad, it is a time to reflect on his ideals and teachings on love, unity, compassion and peace,” Diri said.

He also stressed the importance of patriotism and caring for others, noting that the principles of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence remained essential to building a harmonious society.

“I urge adherents of the faith to demonstrate practical love, patriotism and ensure peaceful co-existence with others. The principles of good neighbourliness and being a brother’s keeper are best manifested at a season as this,” he added.

Diri congratulated the Muslim faithful on the celebration and prayed that the occasion would usher in prosperity, happiness and greater peace in Bayelsa State and Nigeria.

“On this celebration of the Feast of Eid-el-Maulud, I felicitate with my Muslim brothers in the state and across Nigeria.

“May this celebration bring greater prosperity and joy to you all and to our state.

“Barka da Sallah!” he said.
