Christopher Nkunku returns to RB Leipzig on loan from AC Milan

RB Leipzig have brought Christopher Nkunku back to the club, signing the France international from AC Milan on a season-long loan deal that includes an option to make the transfer permanent.

The 28-year-old forward returns to the Bundesliga side three years after leaving for Chelsea, having established himself as one of Leipzig’s most influential players during his first spell.

Nkunku spent four seasons at Leipzig between 2019 and 2023, scoring 70 goals and helping the club lift the German Cup twice. His outstanding 2022-23 campaign saw him finish as the Bundesliga’s joint-leading scorer.

A product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, Nkunku joined Chelsea in 2023 but endured an injury-hit spell in England that limited his opportunities. Despite those struggles, he was part of the Chelsea squad that won both the Conference League and Club World Cup.

The Frenchman moved to AC Milan last year and made 35 appearances across competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring eight goals.

The forward has also earned 18 caps for France at international level.
