Egypt partners Right to Dream Academy to uncover next generation of sporting talent
By Mishael Emmanuel
Egypt has launched a landmark partnership with Right to Dream Academy aimed at discovering, nurturing and developing young sporting talent across the country, leveraging the academy's internationally acclaimed expertise in youth athlete development.
The initiative was discussed during a virtual meeting between Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports, Gohar Nabil, businessmen Mohamed Mansour and Lotfy Mohamed Mansour, and Mohamed Wasfy, Director of Right to Dream Academy.
Discussions centred on implementing nationwide talent identification and development programmes across Egypt's governorates, creating structured pathways that will connect promising young athletes with world-class training and long-term professional opportunities.
The initiative forms part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen Egypt's talent pipeline and elevate the country's sporting future.
"This initiative comes in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to invest in young people and identify and nurture talented individuals," Nabil said.
"The ministry is implementing a national project, in partnership with national institutions, to discover sporting talent across Egypt.
"The goal is to establish a specialized academy in cooperation with Right to Dream that will be operated according to international standards, with the aim of developing generations of athletes capable of competing at both the national and international levels."
The minister noted that the ministry's extensive network of sports cities, facilities and sports schools across Egypt will serve as key hubs for talent identification and athlete development, ensuring equal opportunities for young people from every part of the country.
Founded in 1999 by former Manchester United scout Tom Vernon, Right to Dream began as a residential football academy in Ghana, combining elite football coaching with quality education and character development.
The academy expanded into Egypt in 2021 following the Mansour Group's investment in the global football development organisation.
Today, Right to Dream operates a global network of academies in Ghana, Egypt, Denmark and the United States.
It is also linked to three professional football clubs, Denmark's FC Nordsjælland, Egypt's FC Masar and Major League Soccer's San Diego FC, providing graduates with a clear pathway into professional football and elite competition.
