NSC backs Awoniyi’s Kwara Kiddies League initiative

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has thrown the Commission's weight behind Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi and his grassroots football development programme, the Kwara Kiddies League.
Dikko made the pledge when he received the Nottingham Forest forward on a courtesy visit to the Commission's headquarters in Abuja.
Awoniyi was accompanied by former Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah.
During the meeting, Awoniyi presented Dikko with an official Nottingham Forest jersey and outlined his vision for expanding opportunities for young football talents through the Kwara Kiddies League and other youth-centred sports development initiatives.
The NSC Chairman praised the Super Eagles star for investing in grassroots sports and contributing to the development of future generations of Nigerian athletes.
Dikko assured Awoniyi of the Commission's commitment to providing the necessary support and enabling environment to ensure the success and growth of the initiative.
According to the NSC Chairman, strategic partnerships between accomplished athletes and sports administrators are crucial to discovering and nurturing future champions, particularly at the grassroots level where talent identification begins.
The discussions also touched on the progress of Nigerian football, athlete development programmes and sustainable pathways for young talents to excel in sports.
Awoniyi reiterated his commitment to giving back to society through sports, stressing his desire to empower young people by creating opportunities for them to develop their talents and pursue their dreams.
The visit forms part of the National Sports Commission's ongoing engagement with Nigerian athletes competing at the highest levels around the world as it seeks to strengthen collaborations aimed at advancing sports development across the country.
Dikko noted that initiatives such as the Kwara Kiddies League align with the Commission's vision of building a sustainable sports development structure capable of producing future national stars and international champions.
