Defence Spikers stage remarkable comeback as Customs continue dominance at CGC Volleyball Premier League

The fourth day of the 3rd CGC Volleyball Premier League (First Phase) in Abuja produced thrilling encounters, dominant performances, and dramatic comebacks as teams battled for crucial victories in both the men's and women's categories.
In the women's division, Life Camp Volleyball Club maintained their impressive form with a hard-fought straight-set victory over Excelsior VC.
Despite the 3-0 scoreline, the contest was closely fought, with Life Camp edging the sets 25-23, 25-21, and 25-23.
Anambra Queens and Benue Queens served up one of the most entertaining matches of the day. Anambra Queens survived a fierce challenge to claim a 3-2 victory after five gripping sets.
After taking the opening set 25-22, Anambra surrendered the next two sets 13-25 and 22-25 before mounting a strong comeback to win the fourth set 25-14 and seal the decisive fifth set 15-11.
Defending champions Nigeria Customs Service Women underlined their title credentials with a commanding 3-0 win over Kada Emeralds.
Customs dominated from start to finish, cruising to set victories of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-12.
In the men's category, Defence Spikers staged a remarkable comeback against Ajase Ipo to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory.
Ajase Ipo appeared headed for victory after winning the first two sets 27-25 and 25-19, but Defence Spikers responded strongly, taking the next three sets 25-14, 25-19, and 15-11 to complete the turnaround.
CNS Spikers delivered a clinical performance against UCEM VC, recording a comfortable 3-0 triumph. The service team dominated throughout, winning 25-15, 25-10, and 25-22.
Kano Pillars also continued their strong campaign with a 3-1 victory over NSCDC. After sharing the opening two sets, Pillars regained control to win the third and fourth sets and secure the match 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Nigeria Customs Service Men capped another successful day for the Customs teams with a convincing 3-0 win over Nigeria Correctional Service. Customs controlled proceedings from the outset, claiming the sets 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17.
With the competition gathering momentum, teams continue to stake their claims for top positions as the first phase of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League progresses in Abuja.
The blend of dominant victories and dramatic five-set battles has provided fans with plenty of excitement, setting the stage for more intense action in the days ahead.
