Egypt run riot in Jeddah

...Humilate Saudi ahead of Spain test

The Pharaohs of Egypt fired an early warning shot ahead of the 2026 World Cup, dismantling Saudi Arabia national football team 4-0 in a commanding friendly at Jeddah.

Winger Islam Issa set the tone just four minutes in with a composed opener, before Mahmoud Hassan powered home a header in the 16th minute.

Ahmed Sayed added a classy third on the stroke of halftime, and Omar Marmoush put the result beyond doubt with a thunderous strike after the break.

Under Hossam Hassan, Egypt looked sharp despite missing injured talisman Mohamed Salah, with debutant Issa and goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir seizing their opportunities.

After absorbing early Saudi pressure, Egypt struck clinically and never looked back.
Trezeguet’s close-range header doubled the lead, while Shobeir produced key saves to keep the hosts at bay.

Zizo’s delicate lob before halftime effectively ended the contest, and Marmoush’s long-range rocket early in the second half capped a ruthless display.

With wholesale substitutions in the second half, Egypt maintained control, showcasing depth and discipline ahead of tougher tests.

Next up is a high-profile showdown against Spain national football team at the RCDE Stadium, a far sterner examination, but one the Pharaohs now approach with confidence.
