Host state Bayelsa and Team Ogun delivered standout performances, claiming two gold medals apiece on Day 3 of the 4th Governor Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa.

Bayelsa’s dominance in the boys’ freestyle categories was evident as Iniekpoebi Godfrey secured gold in the 44kg U15 division, defeating Ebievin Odubukeme of Dynamite Club.

Teammate Righteous Amudukur followed suit with a commanding victory over Zikenah Woyinlayefa, also of Dynamite Club, to clinch gold in the 48kg category.

Ogun State matched that feat in the girls’ events, with Rokebat Monlowolowo triumphing in the 29kg U15 category after overcoming Mercy Andrew of Ngobere Club.

Oreoluwa Akindipe added a second gold for Ogun, defeating Regina Ebisuode of Dynamite Club in the 33kg division.

Other standout performances on the day saw Dynamite Club’s Profit Bestman emerge victorious in the 36kg U15 girls’ category, while Cross River’s Happiness Peter claimed gold in the 39kg class.

Rivers State also made its mark through Oke Tobi, who secured gold in the 42kg division.
