Kigali has been confirmed as the host city for the third edition of the SportsBiz Africa (SBA) Forum, set to take place in September 2026, further cementing Rwanda’s growing reputation as a hub for high-profile sports and business events on the continent.
The announcement was made during a breakfast engagement meeting held on January 15 in Rabat, Morocco, on the sidelines of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The invitation-only gathering brought together senior policymakers, sports administrators, investors and industry leaders to unveil the agenda and strategic direction for the 2026 Forum.
The decision marks a return to Rwanda’s capital, which successfully hosted the second edition of the SportsBiz Africa Forum in September last year.
That event drew widespread praise for its organisation and impact, setting the stage for an even more ambitious outing in 2026.
Representatives of major continental and global institutions, including the African Union Sports Council and world football governing body FIFA, were present at the Rabat activation, highlighting the Forum’s rising profile as a leading platform for sports-driven economic dialogue in Africa.
Organisers noted that the SBA Forum continues to position sport as a catalyst for sustainable socio-economic development, aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision of “The Africa We Want.”
Building on the momentum of the 2025 edition, the 2026 Kigali Forum is expected to deepen its integrated ecosystem approach by linking policy reform, investment facilitation, skills development and sports tourism into a unified continental marketplace for ideas and capital.
Key highlights of the 2026 agenda include expanded continental policy dialogues, enhanced investment deal-making platforms, international sports competitions, as well as targeted youth and professional development programmes.
With Africa’s influence in the global sports economy steadily rising, organisers believe the Kigali 2026 Forum will be the most ambitious edition yet, reinforcing the continent’s readiness to leverage sport as a powerful engine for growth, innovation and global relevance.
