Mrs. Sabina Chikere draws the curtains on 2025 Edo Heritage Sports Festival and Carnival

The Executive Director of Sport Development and Operations, Edo State Sports Commission, (ESSC), Mrs. Sabina Chikere, on Friday, drew the curtains on the 2025 edition of the Edo Heritage Sports Festival held at the Etete Sports Centre.
The 5 event came to and end in an unforgettable style, with Mrs. Sabina Chikere, a top sports official in Edo State gracing the occasion.
Mrs. Sabina Chikere, described being at the prestigious event as a great honour.
She made this statement in an exclusive interview with FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG's Oluwatobiloba Zeal-Adepetu Kumoye, summarising the event as a remarkable platform that celebrates the rich culture, heritage, and sporting excellence of Edo State.
“It was a great honour to attend the 2025 Edo Heritage Sports Festival and Carnival — a remarkable platform that celebrates the rich culture, heritage, and sporting excellence of our beloved Edo State,” she said.
During the closing ceremony of the highly esteemed event, Mrs. Chikere had the rare privilege to present awards to various distinguished and key individuals, who have been a great support to sports in the state.
“I was privileged to present awards to distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to sports and to society. Among them was the Director General of the Edo State Migration Agency, Chief Hon. Lucky Agazuma, whose dedication and impact continue to inspire many,” she stated.
The closing ceremony came to an end in grand style, with the pageantry show, a segment Mrs. Chikere described as the icing on the cake. Charming and alluring, Miss Owan West, was crowned Queen of the highly anticipated event.
“The festival also featured an exciting pageant, where Miss Owan West emerged victorious, and I had the honour of crowning her as the new queen — a proud moment that added colour and glamour to the celebration,” she expressed.
“Events like this remind us of the importance of preserving our heritage, promoting unity, and showcasing the diverse talents that make Edo State truly exceptional. Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this celebration of culture, community, and excellence,” she added.
