Edo Cricket League set for explosive final weekend as Invictus, No Limit chase glory
By Maxwell Kumoye
The Edo Cricket League is heading into its final round with the title race boiling over, and two giants, Invictus Cricket Club and No Limit Cricket Club — locked neck-and-neck at the top with 10 points each. With just a single weekend left to fight, the margins are razor-thin and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Since the league launched on November 8, 2025, the battle has been fierce. Now, three teams remain in the hunt for the crown: Invictus CC, No Limit CC and the stealth contenders UNIBEN CC, who sit just behind with 8 points. But all eyes remain on Invictus, who enter the final stretch as the team most likely to snatch the title.
The decisive weekend kicks off on Saturday, November 29, with UNIBEN CC tackling Integrity Force CC at 10:30 AM. Later in the day, Invictus CC faces Delta Force CC in a high-stakes showdown at 2:00 PM, a match that could either cement their dominance or open the door for drama.
Sunday will provide pure cricket theatre.
No Limit CC meet UNIBEN CC at 9:30 AM in a clash already being touted as the game that could flip the table. Hours later at 1:30 PM, UNIBEN return to face Invictus CC in what could become the league’s defining moment — a duel capable of rewriting the standings entirely.
All matches will take place at the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Cricket, Iyoba College, Benin City, where fans are expecting a weekend loaded with grit, bold hitting and nerves of steel.
With Super Four playoff spots also on the line, teams must dig deeper than ever. The league has reached its breaking point, hunger, passion and precision will determine who rises and who falls.
The Edo Cricket League is sponsored by PETS Foundation and sanctioned by the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), and continues to enjoy strong backing from the Edo State Sports Commission.
The Commission’s Executive Chairman, Honourable Amadin Desmond Enabulele, is expected to grace Sunday’s closing ceremony as the drama concludes.
This is it. A season of fierce competition comes down to one last, unforgettable weekend and Benin City cricket fans are ready for the fireworks.
