Daniel FC turns a new page as Akanmu Salabiu Abiodun takes the helm

As the 2025/2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season draws closer, Daniel Football Club of Abuja has made a bold move to reshape its footballing fortunes. 

The club has announced the appointment of Coach Akanmu Salabiu Abiodun as its new Head Coach — a decision many believe could spark a new era for the ambitious side.

The club’s chairman, Daniel Felix, confirmed the development in a statement released on Sunday, October 26, 2025, expressing optimism that Abiodun’s arrival would bring renewed energy, fire power and direction.

“Daniel Football Club, Abuja, is happy to announce the appointment of Akanmu Salabiu Abiodun as our new Head Coach,” the statement read. 

“His appointment takes immediate effect, and we hope his wealth of experience will help our club make a strong challenge in the coming season.”

For followers of Nigerian grassroots football, Abiodun’s name rings with both experience and passion. The former player, who once dazzled fans with his silky midfield play, featured for several Nigerian clubs, including:

His career also took him beyond Nigeria’s borders to Baraka SSG of Conakry, Guinea, before he hung up his boots and embraced life on the touchline.

Now a respected coach, Abiodun has built a reputation as a tactician who combines discipline with player development. 

His previous stints with Pepsi Academy, De Royal Academy, and Otta Solo FC have earned him plaudits for grooming young talents and instilling a professional mindset in his teams.

For Daniel FC, Abiodun’s arrival marks more than just a managerial change — it represents hope and a renewed begining. 

After a difficult campaign last season, the Abuja-based club is eager to rediscover its rhythm and compete with greater consistency.

Insiders at the club believe the new coach’s vast experience and calm approach will help stabilize the team and restore belief among the players. “He’s the right man for the job,” one club official said. “He understands the local game, and he has the personality to lift this team.”

As preseason preparations intensify, all eyes will be on Coach Akanmu Salabiu Abiodun to see how he reshapes the squad and lays the foundation for a new chapter in Daniel FC’s journey.
