Barcelona renew and expand deal with Sebang

La Liga Champions, FC Barcelona have renewed their partnership with Sebang Global Battery, extending their deal until 2028. To the naked eye, it looks like another routine commercial announcement, but under the surface, the deal underlines Barça’s continued reliance on external partners to prop up a balance sheet still creaking under the weight of the Nou Camp redevelopment.

The collaboration with Sebang initially focused on the UAE, but now the agreement has been expanded to include Chile, as it piggybacks on the club’s enormous South American fanbase.

Sebang has benefitted handsomely from the relationship, gaining brand visibility far beyond its traditional footprint. For the Catalan giants, however, partnerships of this ilk are no longer a bonus, they are a necessity. The club are squeezing every last drop of commercial value out of the Barça brand, from digital activations to VIP hospitality, because the cash flow is needed like water in a desert.

While the footballing side looks robust under Hansi Flick, the boardroom remains laser-focused on signing off deals like this so Barcelona can continue to compete for the best players in the transfer market.
