Bayelsa Queens eye perfect run in WAFU B Champions League

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), champions Bayelsa Queens are looking to maintain their perfect run in group stage of the WAFU B 2025 CAF Women's Champions League, when they take on Benin Republic's Sam Nelly FC, later today at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique, Abidjan, Côte D'Ivoire.

The Prosperity Girls are in pole position in Group B after back-to-back victories over Ghana’s Police Ladies and ASKO de Kara of Togo.
 
Anything other than a loss, against Sam Nelly FC will guarantee them top spot in the group, regardless of the outcome in the other fixture between Police Ladies and ASKO. But three points against Sam Nelly would mean that the Bayelsa State based outfit that has already secured a place in the semifinals could possibly win the eight team tournament and progress from the qualifiiers unbeaten.
 
For the ladies from Benin Republic, however, it is a must-win encounter. The Beninese side opened their campaign with a victory over ASKO but fell 3-1 to Police Ladies in their second outing.

Defeat against Bayelsa Queens would end their hopes of progressing to the semi-finals.
 
Kick-off is scheduled for 16h00 local time.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Police Ladies revived their qualification chances with a strong 3-1 win over Sam Nelly after losing their opener to Bayelsa Queens.

The Ghanaians must now overcome ASKO to secure their place in the last four.

ASKO, who have lost both of their opening matches, will be playing for pride, though only a highly unlikely set of results could hand them a semi-final lifeline.

The top two teams from Group B will advance to the semi-finals, where they will meet qualifiers from Group A.

The eventual winners of the WAFU B zonal tournament will represent the region at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League later this year.

Hammer thrower Falana vows to rule Africa

It’s a medal within reach for the young Gabonese hammer thrower who was selected to represent her country at the CAA U-18/20 Championship, holding in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-West, Nigeria. Springsoca United Academy kicks off new season with intensive training

The management of the football Academy stated that participants in the U-13 Teams will now train twice weekly, while U-15 Teams and older will engage in three weekly sessions. This structure is designed to improve fitness levels, tactical awareness, and long-term development.
