We shall introduce policies that will fast track the growth of handball in Nigeria - Mr. Jibril Saidu, Presidential candidate for the Nigerian Handball Federation

A current board member of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr. Jibril Saidu, says the welfare of players, coaches, officiating officials and the introduction of policies that will fast track and accelerate the growth of handball in Nigeria are key elements of his administration.

Mr. Jibril Saidu, made this promise on Saturday in a chat with journalists, stating that when you give the much needed attention to these critical aspects of this sport that all Nigerians are passionate about, it will go a long way in attracting the right sponsors and corporate bodies.

 Mr. Jibril Saidu, a Presidential candidate for the forthcoming election into the board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), said; ”So many past leaders have done so much and so much is still expected for handball.”

“We know that Handball is now digitalized and technology plays a key role in the sport worldwide, the playing pattern has changed, new administrative modes and policies have been introduced into the game and we must key in to get the game at the right level.”

He went on to state that, “You cannot sit down in the comfort of your office as the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria and say that Handball is moving. Playing is a part of the policies of the game, innovation, planning are some of the things he hopes to bring into the game if elected as President.”

Jibril Saidu, the Secretary General of Commonwealth Handball Federation explained that, all the stakeholders in the game of handball should work as a team so that sponsorship can roll in and the game will benefit.

“We will work organizers and sponsors, we will encourage them and put in place better policies as well as give the players welfare a lift and we will also bring in some fresh innovation because innovation is the drive for better tomorrow.”

He stressed that his drive for the leadership of the Handball Federation of Nigeria is anchored on his love and interest for the sport, sincerity openness, transparency and the desire to give value to all sponsors and sponsorship.

Mr. Jibril Saidu, a very passionate and dynamic administrator, is determined to open a new vista for the game of handball through the training and retraining of coaches, officiating officials and open the door for more Nigerians to get international recognition.

“The youth and women will find joy in the new look Handball Federation that we hope to build. We will encourage and help the young ones to combine the game with their secular education,” Jibril Saidu, an international arbiter emphasized.

Nigeria is currently ranked 5th on the continent with 38.4 ranking points and Jibril Saidu' goal is to make the country the number one within the next few years.

"The domestic leagues and competitions will be giving adequate attention and support, we will also spread the reach of the sport beyond the traditional base,” HFN board member added.
