Season 4 of Lekki Summer League to be rip-roaring, exciting - Organisers

Coach Idowu Timothy Abimbola, organiser of the eminent Lekki Summer League promises that the Linen edition of the renowned youth basketball event is going to be hair-raising and action-packed.
Idowu Timothy Abimbola, the Head Coach of Hoops N' Read BBC made this public on Tuesday in an interview with your authoritative and award-winning news channel, FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG .
Coach Abimbola stated that the objective of Linen edition is to give kids mostly secondary school age students in Lagos State, the Centre of Excellence, the platform to showcase their talents to the world.
He added that Season 4 of the Lekki Summer League is not just an opportunity to be showcase their talents but also an avenue to understand the game better, network and to be scouted.
The Lekki Summer League, which is the first youth focused basketball event tournament on the Island is breading champions as various past winners are representing various clubs in Nigeria and Africa.
Under the auspices of the Lekki Summer League, Idowu Abimbola who serves as the Head Coach of West African basketball kings, Hoops N' Read, has contributed to basketball development in Nigeria by introducing the slamming and dunking to various communities across Lagos State.
“Every summer, teenagers around Lagos Island and Lekki Peninsula are looking forward to participating in Summer League,” he explained.
“Our focus to give the players a platform to express themselves, be seen and scouted for further opportunities in the game, we award medals to the top 3 teams and trophy to the champion,” Coach Abimbola further explained.
In a bid to introduce the slamming and dunking game to individuals and communities across Lagos State, Coach Idowu Abimbola, is looking to expand the scope of the esteemed Lekki Summer League.
Coach Abimbola went on to add that expanding the scope of the Lekki Summer League has been his goal, but is currently beyond his reach due to lack of government and corporate bodies support.
He stressed that various attempts to gain government backing proved abortive, as the League which is in it's 4th year is backed by private individuals.
“We made contact with government officials last year and we couldn't get any support. Every other support financially has come from private individuals who have sponsored logistics, venue, jerseys, balls, medals and trophy,” he added.
He called on the government, corporate bodies and basketball loving individuals to support the Lekki Summer League and help unearth basketball gems across the state.
