The Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, is very elated and satisfied with the sponsor of 2025 Gombe State Inter Secondary Schools Athletics and Principal Football Cup Competition, Honourable Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe.

His Royal Highness, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, gave the commendation during the closing ceremony of the 5-day event held at Pantami Stadium.

The Emir who was represented by Dan Adalan Gombe, Alhaji Muhammad Baba Mabani said, the Competitions will go a long way in discovering talented athletes and at the same time help improve their skills for future national and international engagements.

"We really appreciate Honourable Gara's commitment and determination to move the State forward as far as sports is concerned,'' the Emir stated.

He added that the Emirate Council will continue to support such laudable programmes aimed at motivating the teeming youth population in the 'Jewel of the Savannah'.

He appealed to Honourable Gara Gombe to continue to do more for the community and the State in general.

The Royal Father had some sweet and thoughtful words for those who had a podium finish at the end of two-in-one competition. He urge other participants to double their efforts for a better outing in future.

The Organisers of the Competition, the Gombe State Amateur Athletics Association, used the occasion to bestow on the Emir, a lifetime patron of the event that has enjoyed positive commendations from sports stakeholders across the country.

Hammer thrower Falana vows to rule Africa

Springsoca United Academy kicks off new season with intensive training

By Mishael Emmanuel with additional reports by Akeem Busari One of the the fastest-growing youth football institution in the city of Lagos, Springsoca United Academy, has officially announced the commencement of its 2025/2026 football season, beginning on Saturday, the 6th of September, 2025.    The Youth Academy has introduced new training mandates aimed at strengthening discipline, performance, and player development. The management of the football Academy stated that participants in the U-13 Teams will now train twice weekly, while U-15 Teams and older will engage in three weekly sessions. This structure is designed to improve fitness levels, tactical awareness, and long-term development.
