The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel congratulated the President of Nigeria Judo Federation, (NJF), Dr. Olakunle Musa Oshodi, on his election into the West African Judo Union.

The West African Judo election was held in Casablanca, the Moroccan port city on January 14, 2025, with 12 West African countries in attendance.

The election was held at the five-star, Hotel Grand Mogador in Pasteur Avenue during the African Judo Union Congress.

During the election, President of Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Olakunle Musa Oshodi, was elected as the General Secretary.

The news of his election thrilled the President of Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel, who praised him for his unwavering commitment to Judo in Nigeria.

He urged him to use his entry into the West African board to bring spread the love of Judo in other Western countries.

He also had some nice words for Mr. Seydou Dabonne who will be leading the affairs of of Judo in West Africa, stating that Judo will prosper under his stewardship.

The following West African Judo Union Executive Members were elected.

★ Mr DABONNE Seydou: President from Cote D'ivoure. 

★ Mr DIALLO Abdoulaye Balipily: 1st Vice President from Guinea 

★ Mr MASSAQUOI Idrissa: 2nd Vice President from Sierra Leone 

★ Dr OSHODI Musa Olakunle: General secretary from Nigeria

★ Mr RAUORE Mamadou: Treasurer from. Mali

Hammer thrower Falana vows to rule Africa

Springsoca United Academy kicks off new season with intensive training

By Mishael Emmanuel with additional reports by Akeem Busari One of the the fastest-growing youth football institution in the city of Lagos, Springsoca United Academy, has officially announced the commencement of its 2025/2026 football season, beginning on Saturday, the 6th of September, 2025.    The Youth Academy has introduced new training mandates aimed at strengthening discipline, performance, and player development. The management of the football Academy stated that participants in the U-13 Teams will now train twice weekly, while U-15 Teams and older will engage in three weekly sessions. This structure is designed to improve fitness levels, tactical awareness, and long-term development.
