Nigeria's Beach Volleyball teams stay unbeaten on Day 2 in Badagry

Nigeria's teams continued their impressive run on Day 2 of the 2026 African Nations Cup Beach Volleyball Zone 3 Championship, delivering a good performances in both the men's and women's events in Badagry, Lagos State.

The host nation's men's first team made light work of Liberia, cruising to a convincing 2-0 victory.

Nigeria won the opening set 21-12 before wrapping up the contest with a dominant 21-6 second-set triumph to strengthen their position in the competition.

In the women's category, Nigeria proved unstoppable as both of its teams recorded two straight-set victories each.

Nigeria's first women's team began the day by thrashing Ivory Coast I 21-9, 21-9 before maintaining the momentum with another commanding display against Ghana I, winning 21-11, 21-13.

Nigeria II also enjoyed a productive outing, defeating Côte d'Ivoire II 21-12, 21-18 before overcoming Ghana II 21-18, 21-15 to complete a perfect day for the hosts.

Elsewhere in the men's competition, Ghana II defeated Benin II 21-14, 21-17, while Niger Republic I overwhelmed Liberia 21-8, 21-9.

Benin I overcame Ivory Coast I in straight sets (21-12, 21-16), but the Ivorians forced a golden set after their second team defeated Benin II 21-19, 21-14. Benin eventually prevailed 15-8 in the decisive golden set.

Côte d'Ivoire I later bounced back with a comfortable 21-6, 21-13 victory over Liberia.

The women's competition also produced several thrilling encounters. Ghana I defeated Niger Republic I 21-19, 21-11, while Ghana II edged Niger Republic II in three sets, winning 21-18, 17-21, 15-5.

Niger Republic I claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Benin I, taking the deciding set 15-8 after the teams had shared the opening two sets.

Benin Republic II brushed aside Côte d'Ivoire II 21-8, 21-9, while Côte d'Ivoire I defeated Benin Republic I 21-17, 21-17 before sealing the tie with a 15-8 victory in the golden set.

With the group stage gathering momentum, Nigeria has emerged as one of the standout teams, particularly in the women's event, where both pairs remain unbeaten after another dominant day on the sands of Badagry.
