The Commonwealth Games Association of Ghana (CGA) has unveiled a 40-member High-Performance Squad as preparations intensify for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Leading the list is top sprinter Benjamin Azamati, who returns to the national setup after missing the African Senior Athletics Championships in May.
Fellow sprinter Mustapha Bokpin, who also sat out the continental championships, has also earned a recall.
The squad also features key members of Ghana's formidable men's relay team, including Joseph Paul Amoah, Abdul Rasheed-Saminu, and James Dadzie, reinforcing the country's medal ambitions on the track.
National high jump record holder Rose Yeboah has also been named in the squad, adding further quality to Ghana's athletics contingent.
However, long jumper Deborah Acquah remains absent from the national team.
The former Commonwealth Games medallist has not represented Ghana since competing at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
According to the CGA, the selected athletes will now enter the final phase of preparations, which will include intensified training, sports science support, and world-class performance programmes designed to ensure Team Ghana is fully prepared for Glasgow 2026.
In a statement, the Commonwealth Games Association of Ghana called on Ghanaians both at home and in the diaspora to "rally behind Team Ghana as they embark on the journey to Glasgow with determination, unity, and the ambition of bringing home medals and making the nation proud."
