Cairo confirmed to host 2027 African Games from August 27 to September 10

The official dates for the 14th African Games have been confirmed, with Cairo, Egypt, set to host the continent's biggest multi-sport event from August 27 to September 10, 2027.

The announcement was made by the African Union Sports Council in an official statement, confirming that the Egyptian capital will stage the prestigious competition over a two-week period.

"The 14th African Games will be hosted in Cairo, Egypt, from 27 August to 10 September 2027," the council said.

The Games are expected to attract thousands of athletes from across Africa, who will compete in a wide range of sporting disciplines in pursuit of continental glory.

Beyond the medals, the event will serve as a platform to showcase Africa's emerging and established sporting talents while promoting unity, friendship and the continued development of sport across the continent.

As host city, Cairo is expected to welcome athletes, officials and fans from across Africa, transforming the Egyptian capital into the hub of continental sport during the competition.

The 14th African Games will be one of the biggest sporting events on the African calendar in 2027, with participating nations aiming to make their mark on the continental stage.
