Inter Miami sign up with Shift4

Inter Miami have signed a new partnership with Shift4, handing the payments specialist a central role in matchday operations at the club’s recently opened Nu Stadium.

Under the agreement, Shift4 becomes both an Official Partner of the MLS side and the Official Payment Processing Partner of the 26,700-seat venue, with its integrated technology now underpinning ticketing and in-stadium purchases.

Nu Stadium, which opened just over three weeks ago, represents a significant infrastructure step for Inter Miami as it looks to align its commercial and matchday offering with its ever-growing on-pitch profile. The club says that embedding a single payments ecosystem across the venue is intended to streamline operations while supporting increased throughput on busy matchdays.

In its press release, the deal was positioned squarely around the fan journey, with an emphasis on reducing friction across high-volume touchpoints such as entry and concessions.

There was no mention of financial terms or the length of the contract.

Euan Warren, Vice President of Partnerships at Inter Miami CF, said: “With the successful opening of our new home, it’s important that every aspect of the fan journey reflects the world-class experience we aim to provide at Nu Stadium. Shift4’s innovative technology plays a key role in delivering a fast, frictionless environment for our fans.”

Shift4’s involvement extends beyond its role in back-end processing. The company will also have a visible advertising presence throughout the stadium, including integration into Grab & Go retail points designed to speed up service and reduce queuing times.

Dustin Alpert, Head of Sports & Entertainment at Shift4, said: “We’re excited to partner with Inter Miami CF to power incredible fan experiences on matchday. Our cutting-edge commerce technologies complement the team’s operations at its brand-new stadium to ensure a frictionless experience for both ticketing and concessions purchases.

“Shift4 proudly provides commerce services at thousands of arenas and venues in North America across every major sports league, and we look forward to continuing to explore opportunities to support the broader Inter Miami ecosystem in the future.”

The partnership is the latest example of the club using its venue as an opportunity to shuffle its commercial stack, particularly around data capture and transaction efficiency.
