Six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has split from coach Wim Fissette following a difficult start to her 2026 campaign, the Polish star confirmed on Monday.

The decision comes in the aftermath of her early exit at the Miami Open, where Swiatek suffered a three-set defeat to fellow Pole Magda Linette in the second round, her opening match of the tournament.

Swiatek’s struggles in Miami continued a run of underwhelming results this season, with quarter-final exits at the Australian Open, Qatar Open, and Indian Wells Open.

Reflecting on her recent form, the 24-year-old admitted to mixed emotions.

“Sometimes life and sports bring moments like this... Miami was challenging for me. I feel disappointment, bitterness and responsibility for my performance on the court,” she wrote on Instagram, while acknowledging the lessons learned during a turbulent stretch.

Swiatek also confirmed that she and Fissette, who began working together in October 2024, have decided to go their separate ways.

During their partnership, the Belgian coach helped guide her to one of the defining moments of her career, her maiden title at Wimbledon Championships.

“I want to thank Wim for his support, experience, and everything we achieved together,” she said. “I wish him all the best, both professionally and personally.”

Despite the coaching change, Swiatek revealed that the rest of her team will remain intact as she takes time to regroup and plan her next move.

The shake-up comes as the former world number one slips to third in the rankings, having been overtaken by Elena Rybakina, the reigning Australian Open champion.

As Swiatek pauses to reset, attention now turns to who will lead her next chapter and whether the change can reignite her push back to the summit of women’s tennis.
