President Bola Tinubu ushers in new era for sports funding

...Removes the National Sports Commission from TSA System

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Tinubu, has cleared the way for a new financing era for Nigeria sports, as he has removed the National Sports Commission, (NSC), from the Treasury Single Account system.

This cheering development was made public by the Director General of the NSC, Honourable, Chief, Bukola Olopade, at the Niger Delta Games Cultural Expo held in Benin City.

He described the development as a giant stride towards unprecedented greatness in Nigerian sports.

He also revealed that President Tinubu is also looking into infrastructure development.

“The President also approved an aggressive amount for infrastructure development, that means that we will aggressively pursue infrastructural development in Nigeria,” he said.

The Treasury Single Account (TSA) is a government financial policy to use a single bank account at the Central Bank of Nigeria for all inflows of funds from all government agencies. 

The seasoned sports administrator and technocrat, was full praise for President Tinubu, for taking a bold interest in sports development, emphasizing that at this pace Nigerian sports will be on a whole new level in the sporting ecosystem.

Honourable Bukola Olopade also had some delightful words overflowing and admiration for the Organisers of the Niger Delta Games, stressing that what they have done to develop the region is worthy of commendation.

“What NDDC and Dunamis Icon are doing is to cement the fact that without Niger Delta, Nigerian sporting pools will be deprived of talent.

“But to come here tonight and see what Dunamis has added to sports, culture and music goes to show that Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, affectionately called Malik is the number one sports entrepreneur in Nigeria. We will support this event beyond your comprehension,” he stated.

He called on other regions of the Giants of Africa, to imitate the example of Dunamis and the NDDC, adding that there are so many talents that are yet to be discovered.
