Fecafoot Boss Eto’o, defends snub of retired referees’ payment claims

Cameroon Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o has come out swinging, shutting down mounting criticism over the alleged non-payment of referees’ salaries.

Speaking on Info TV and MSI TV, the football icon delivered a blunt message, only those who work get paid.

The controversy erupted after a group of retired referees accused Fecafoot of owing them outstanding salaries. But Eto’o was having none of it.

“Those who deserve this salary are the ones who are working,” Eto’o said firmly. “I don’t see why I should give money to an association of retirees; they do not work for Fecafoot.”

The former Barcelona superstar insisted that all active referees have been duly paid, adding a surprising twist, some officials weren’t even aware that their payments had already been processed.

The episode adds another chapter to the turbulent relationship between Fecafoot and its critics. But as always, Eto’o stood his ground, unapologetic, unfiltered, and unbothered.

With the dust far from settling, one thing is clear, the battle over referees' salaries has just taken a fiery new turn in Cameroonian football.
