The Grassrunners FC talent factory in Ikenne, Remo, Ogun State, South West, Nigeria, has produced yet another headline act as midfield prodigy Rasaq Labode earns a trial with German Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96, a move that could launch his European dream.

Labode, a tough-tackling yet composed defensive midfielder, is currently in Germany testing with the former Bundesliga giants as he looks to impress the club’s technical crew for a potential deal.

His opportunity comes hot on the heels of another Grassrunners sensation, Angelo Agbejoye, who is reportedly being monitored by none other than English champions, Manchester City.

Speaking exclusively on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Grassrunners CEO Gbenga Agbejoye confirmed the exciting development.

“Our player, Rasaq Labode, is presently trying out Hannover 96. We are hopeful that himself and Angelo, who is with Man City, will make us proud,” Agbejoye said.

“We have full confidence in their abilities and are optimistic about their success.”

Grassrunners FC, fast becoming a breeding ground for future stars, continues to live up to its growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant youth football projects.

If Labode shines under the bright lights in Germany, another chapter of the Grassrunners success story could soon be written, this time in Hannover red.
