French President Emmanuel Macron has declared Paris Saint-Germain "the biggest team in Europe" after welcoming the club to the Élysée Palace following their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title.

The French champions were honoured at the presidential residence after their latest European success, a feat that further cements PSG's status among the continent's elite clubs.

Addressing the players, coaches and club officials, Macron praised the team's character and determination throughout their victorious campaign.

"Everyone gave everything until the end. No one lost their nerves. You never gave up, you showed no sign of pressure, and you stayed calm until the final second," Macron said.

The French president said those qualities define a great team and insisted PSG's back-to-back Champions League triumphs have removed any doubt about their standing in European football.

The latest title marks another milestone for coach Luis Enrique and his squad, who have transformed PSG from perennial contenders into a dominant force on the European stage.

Macron also expressed confidence in the French national team, backing Les Bleus to win a third FIFA World Cup title.

"Now I expect our national team to add the third star. There is no national team in the world with this much talent," he said.

France, World Cup winners in 1998 and 2018, remain among the favourites for future international honours.
