Doma United claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Inter Lagos on Monday night, with Yusuf Fantami’s towering header proving decisive in a fiery Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Four clash in Ikenne.

Played under the floodlights of the Remo Stars Stadium, the encounter lived up to its billing as both sides delivered an intense, end-to-end contest.

But it was the Savannah Tigers who showed greater cutting edge when it mattered most, capitalizing on a well-crafted attacking move that ended with Fantami rising above the defence to nod home the winner.

The game was marked by high tempo and physical battles across the pitch, with both teams creating opportunities in a showcase of the quality that earned them promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Tensions, however, flared late in the match as discipline wavered.

Inter Lagos were reduced to ten men in the 82nd minute after Adigun was sent off for an elbow, and moments later, Doma United’s Kennedy followed him down the tunnel for unsporting behaviour, leaving both sides to finish with ten men.

Despite the late drama, Doma United held their nerve, defending resolutely to preserve their slender lead and secure maximum points.

The victory sees Doma United move level on points with Sporting Lagos, who earlier edged Ranchers Bees, setting the stage for a tightly contested race for the Super Four title.

Adam Simbad was named Man of the Match after an assured and influential display, dictating play and providing stability throughout the encounter.

Speaking after the game, Simbad emphasized the team’s ambition.

“Words cannot express how happy I am to pick up this award, but the most important thing is the victory we achieved today. We are here in Ikenne to win the title, and we will keep pushing to make that happen,” he said.

Although all four teams in the Super Four have already secured promotion to the NPFL, the competition remains fiercely competitive as they battle for ultimate bragging rights and the NNL crown.
