Chelle unveils blend of stars, home talents for Super Eagles’ Unity Cup, Poland, Portugal mission

Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming Unity Cup, the friendly against Poland and Portugal have gathered momentum following the release of an impressive Super Eagles squad that blends experience, emerging talents and home-based stars.
Head coach Eric Chelle unveiled a 27-man list packed with notable names across Europe and the Nigeria Premier Football League, signaling the country’s determination to make a strong statement at the tournament.
Leading the goalkeeping department is experienced shot-stopper Francis Uzoho alongside Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and home-based talent Michael Atata of Ikorodu United.
The defensive line features a mix of solidity and versatility with Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Slavia Prague’s Igoh Ogbu, Trabzonspor’s Chibuike Nwaiwu and Rivers United defender Elias Ochobi all earning invitations.
Rangers FC duo Chibueze Oputa and Obinna Igboke also made the squad, while Bruno Onyemaechi adds further quality from Greece.
In midfield, the Super Eagles will rely heavily on the experience of Wilfred Ndidi, who is expected to play a leadership role in the team. He is joined by Samson Tijani, Raphael Onyedika, Tochukwu Nnadi and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro in a youthful yet energetic midfield setup.
Home-based stars Aderemi Adeoye, Ayobami Junior and Oyedokun Tosin were also rewarded for their impressive domestic form.
The attacking department appears particularly exciting with the return of Moses Simon and the inclusion of Sevilla forward Akor Adams, Terem Moffi, Philip Otele and Rafiu Durosinmi.
Young talents Owen Oseni, Zadok Abu Yohanna and Femi Azeez further strengthen the squad, giving the Super Eagles pace, creativity and goal scoring options ahead of the competition.
The Unity Cup is expected to provide coach Chelle another opportunity to assess his squad depth while building a competitive team ahead of future international assignments.
The inclusion of several Nigeria Premier Football League players has also been viewed as a major boost for domestic football, highlighting the growing confidence in local talents.
With a balanced mix of established internationals and promising youngsters, expectations are already rising among Nigerian football fans as the Super Eagles prepare to chase Unity Cup glory and a good running against Poland and Portugal.
