Analysts, 3SC fans rally for Adegoke’s Super Eagles chance ahead of Unity Cup

A huge number of football analysts and supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club have intensified calls for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to hand in-form striker Qamar Adegoke a national team invitation ahead of the upcoming Unity Cup in London.
The appeal, led by fans’ spokesman Mutiu Ijadunola, comes on the back of Adegoke’s impressive performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League, where the 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most lethal forwards this season.
According to Ijadunola, Adegoke possesses the qualities needed to grow into a reliable backup for Victor Osimhen, if given the right exposure and guidance within the national team setup.
“Adegoke has shown consistency and maturity beyond his age,” he said. “He is not just a prospect; he is a specialist right-footed number nine hitting his peak at the ideal time. London presents the perfect shop window for his talent.”
Statistically, the young striker’s case is hard to ignore. Averaging 0.68 goals per 90 minutes across 29 league appearances, Adegoke has demonstrated clinical finishing in a league widely known for its physical and defensively disciplined nature.
His discipline is equally notable, with just one booking all season, an attribute fans believe is vital for the international stage.
Beyond his goal-scoring prowess, Adegoke’s stamina and work rate have also drawn praise, particularly his suitability for high-pressing systems often deployed in modern football.
With a market valuation of €491,000, he is currently regarded as one of the most valuable home-based players in the Nigerian top flight, further strengthening arguments for his inclusion.
For the 3SC faithful and other keen followers of the domestic league, leaving Adegoke out of the Unity Cup squad would represent a missed opportunity, not only for the player but for Nigerian football.
“It would be unfair to ignore him at this point,” Ijadunola added. “He deserves the chance to prove himself on a bigger stage.”
As the Unity Cup approaches, all eyes will now be on Chelle’s squad list to see whether the calls from Ibadan will translate into a breakthrough moment for one of the NPFL’s brightest attacking talents.
