The political landscape in Owan West Local Government Area received a major boost for unity and reconciliation ahead of the 2027 elections as the All Progressives Congress adopted Rt. Honourable Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku as its consensus candidate for the House of Assembly race.
The development has been widely applauded by party stakeholders, supporters and prominent sons and daughters of the constituency, who described the move as a significant step toward strengthening peace, cohesion and political stability in the agric-rich local government.
In a message of appreciation to party leaders and supporters, Agbebaku expressed gratitude to God and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him, noting that the consensus arrangement reflected a collective commitment to the growth and progress of Owan West.
“This moment is not merely a personal victory; it is a triumph of peace, reconciliation, maturity, unity of purpose, and the collective resolve to move Owan West forward,” he stated.
Agbebaku praised the leadership role played by Monday Okpebholo in fostering reconciliation among party stakeholders, stressing that the governor’s commitment to dialogue and inclusiveness had further strengthened unity within the party.
He also acknowledged the support of APC leader in Owan West, High Chief Lucky Ohimai, popularly known as Tarex, as well as local government executives, ward chairmen, elders, women leaders, youths and party faithful for their dedication to party harmony and progress.
The lawmaker further commended other aspirants who stepped aside in the interest of the party, describing their actions as a demonstration of maturity, loyalty and sportsmanship that would inspire future generations.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Owan West, Agbebaku pledged to continue providing purposeful representation anchored on humility, accessibility and inclusive leadership.
He promised to consolidate ongoing achievements through people-oriented projects, empowerment programmes, peacebuilding initiatives and sustained community development.
“This is not the time for division or bitterness. It is time for healing, unity, consolidation, and greater service to our people. Together, we shall continue to build a stronger, united, and more prosperous Owan West,” he added.
Political observers believe the consensus arrangement could further strengthen the APC’s position in Owan West as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
