South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will square off against Morocco’s FAR Rabat in a high-stakes CAF Champions League final after both sides emerged victorious from their semi-final battles on Saturday.
The two-legged final promises a fierce continental showdown, with the first leg set for May 15 and the decisive return fixture scheduled for May 24.
Sundowns booked their place in back-to-back finals with a composed and disciplined performance, edging Tunisia’s Espérance de Tunis 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
The result sealed a comfortable 2-0 aggregate triumph, underlining the South African giants’ consistency and defensive solidity on the big stage.
For FAR Rabat, the journey to the final was equally hard-fought.
The Moroccan side overcame domestic rivals RSB Berkane 2-1 on aggregate.
A crucial 2-0 first-leg advantage proved decisive, even as they fell 1-0 in the return leg on Saturday.
Now, with continental glory within reach, Sundowns will aim to go one better than last season, while FAR Rabat will look to capitalize on their resilience and momentum in pursuit of African club football’s most coveted prize.
