Stoppage-time stunners, away wins steal the show on NWFL Matchday 11
Matchday 11 of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership delivered fireworks across centres, with late goals, dominant displays, and crucial points shaping the race for supremacy.
In Aba, Ahudiyannem Queens ran riot with a commanding 3-0 victory over Osun Babes, inspired by a brace from Grace Aaron, who struck early and late to seal an emphatic win.
Over in Makwada, Adamawa Queens left it late but held firm to edge Ekiti Queens 2-1. Ifeoma Damien broke the deadlock before Favour Godwin doubled the lead, with Ekiti’s late response proving only a consolation.
Rivers Angels showed their class in Abuja, dispatching Naija Ratels 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes. Goals from Abasiofon Uwah and Grace Saliu ensured the visitors cruised to a comfortable victory.
There was little to separate Sunshine Queens and Delta Queens in Akure, as both sides settled for a goalless draw in a tightly contested affair.
In Iyamho, Confluence Queens and FC Robo Queens shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi gave Robo the lead before Vicental Ezeani calmly converted from the spot to restore parity.
Another stalemate played out in Aba, where Abia Angels and Remo Stars Ladies failed to find a breakthrough in a cagey encounter.
The biggest drama of the day came in Lafia, where Nasarawa Amazons snatched a dramatic 1-0 win over Dannaz Ladies thanks to Deborah Onyekachi’s stoppage-time strike, sending the home fans into wild celebrations.
Edo Queens also secured a vital away win in Owerri, with Kafayat Mafisere’s second-half effort enough to see off Heartland Queens.
In Ibadan, Pacesetter Queens rescued a point in the dying moments against Ibom Angels. Olaronke Ola struck deep into stoppage time to cancel out an earlier own goal, capping off a pulsating 1-1 draw.
From dominant home wins to last-gasp heroics, Matchday 11 proved once again why the NWFL Premiership remains one of the most unpredictable and exciting leagues on the continent.
