Team Nigeria delivered another powerful statement at the ISSA Games in Riyadh which ends on Friday.
Nigeria claimed two podium finishes that showcased the nation’s rising strength across athletics.
Nigeria’s Samuel Adams Kure delivered a strong performance to secure a bronze medal in a fiercely contested Men’s Javelin Throw event at the ISSA Games in Riyadh.
It's a result that underlines Nigeria’s growing strength in field events on the global stage.
Pakistan dominated the top two spots, with Arshad Nadeem unleashing a championshipn winning throw to take gold, while Muhammad Yasir followed closely for silver.
However, it was Kure’s impressive form and composed technique that stole African attention, keeping Nigeria firmly on the medal table.
Kure’s bronze's podium finish in an off season competition indicates that he will soon find the right throw.
In a final loaded with world-class throwers, the Nigerian athlete held his nerve, delivered when it mattered, and showcased the depth of talent within Team Nigeria’s athletics program if adequately nurtured.
Team Nigeria camp celebrated the result, praising Kure’s resilience and highlighting the performance as another step toward a stronger showing at upcoming global meets, the CAA Senior Athletics Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the 2028 LA Games.
Moments later, the track lit up again, this time with pure speed.
In the Men’s 4×100m Relay, Team Nigeria powered their way to another bronze, finishing behind hosts Saudi Arabia, who stormed to gold, and Oman, who clinched silver.
The Nigerians refused to fade despite pressure from a loud home crowd.
Both results highlight one thing: Team Nigeria’s athletes are not just competing, they are fighters.
With the Riyadh 2025 Solidarity Games whining down, Team Nigeria is sitting among the top 10 on the medal table.
