The winds of change are blowing through Nigerian Scrabble and they carry the sweet scent of ambition, unity, and corporate firepower. With the World English-Language Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC) Ghana 2025 just days away, Team Nigeria’s title charge is gathering unstoppable momentum.

In a wave of unprecedented support, sponsors and corporate giants are rallying behind the newly inaugurated board of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF), setting the stage for what promises to be a historic campaign in Accra.

Leading the line is Loenese International, steered by Engineer Gbenga Ojofeitimi, a man whose name rings with reverence in Scrabble circles. A lifelong enthusiast and mentor, Ojofeitimi has poured more than two decades of passion and resources into the sport, helping Nigeria maintain its global dominance in the word game. His latest move? Backing Team Nigeria’s WESPAC quest in grand style.

“He doesn’t just write cheques,” said one insider. “He builds champions.”

Joining the corporate crusade is Sir Itiakpo “Malik” Ikpokpo, the visionary CEO of Dunamis, who recently made waves with the successful Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo. Now, he’s setting his sights on the word warriors of Nigeria, adding his signature dynamism and drive to the campaign.

Peculiar Nigeria Limited, led by Engineer Olanrewaju Adeleke, has also entered the Scrabble arena, turning corporate promises into tangible action. Having previously supported the All Nigeria Amazon Championship in Benin, Adeleke’s team is now backing the green-and-white for global glory.

Not to be left out, Boaz Commodities Ltd, headed by Collins Okafor, the man behind the famed BSP Tournament in Ajegunle, has pledged to bankroll key NSF events, fortifying the sport from grassroots to elite level.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Commission (NSC) is matching words with deeds. Under Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director-General Honourable Bukola Olopade, the NSC has gone all out to support Team Nigeria’s buildup, earning praise for what insiders call “massive and game-changing” intervention.

At camp, spirits are soaring. Engineer Dipo Akanbi, Chairman of the Lagos State Scrabble and Monopoly Association, has been a quiet yet powerful motivator, providing some funding, encouragement, and even a surprise lunch visit for players and coaches.

With sponsors on board, leadership aligned, and passion at full throttle, Team Nigeria’s charge toward Accra feels less like preparation and more like destiny in motion.

The countdown is on. The words are ready. The tiles will soon speak and once again, the world will listen to Nigeria.
