Team Nigeria delivered a powerful statement at Riyadh 2025 as their athletes stormed the podium in both the men’s and women’s 400m finals, underlining the country’s growing authority on the track.

In the Men’s 400m, Gafari Atanda Badmus showed grit, speed, and heart to grab a brilliant bronze medal.

Morocco’s Rachid M’hamdi raced to gold, while Emmanuel Bamidele, running for the UAE took silver.

But Badmus’ late surge electrified the stadium, pushing Nigeria firmly into medal territory and proving once again that the Green-White-Green is never far from the podium in the quarter-mile.

Moments later, it was Patience Okon George who lifted Team Nigeria even higher. In the Women’s 400m, she produced a sensational run to claim silver, battling stride-for-stride with Bahrain’s superstar Salwa Eid Naser, who claimed gold.

Uganda’s Leni Shida completed the podium with bronze. Okon George’s performance was vintage, calm, powerful, and fearless, as she stamped her authority as one of Africa’s finest quarter-milers.

Together, Badmus and Okon George turned the 400m finals into a Nigerian showcase, their medals sending a clear message across the track world, Team Nigeria came prepared, came hungry, and came to win.

Riyadh has felt the Nigerian roar and the Games aren’t done yet.
