World record holder Tobi Amusan wins first medal for Team Nigeria in Tokyo

Team Nigeria has picked its first medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The precious medal came from the legs of the world record holder in the women's 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan.

Amusan came second in the race won by Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland in a time of 12.24s while US's Grace Stark stopped the clock in 12.34s to finish third.

The 28 year old world record holder, Amusan, clocked 12.29s.

This is Tobi Amusan's second medal at the World Athletics Championships, the first was her record breaking run in Eugene, Oregan, in 2022 when she set a new world record with her 12.12s gold medal run.
