Morocco to meet Bahrain in Rabat friendly
By Aymen Alami
Morocco will take on Bahrain in an international friendly on October 9 in Rabat, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed.
The game, scheduled to take place at the stunning Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium at 8 pm local time, is part of the Atlas Lions’ build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil next December. Four days later, they will meet Congo Brazzaville in a World Cup qualifier.
Morocco has already booked their ticket to the international tournament co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.
For head coach Walid Regragui, the two fixtures provide a valuable chance to fine-tune tactics ahead of the AFCON. Both matches being staged in Rabat will also help the players get used to the pitch and atmosphere at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Off the pitch, Morocco continue to climb the FIFA world rankings. The Atlas Lions now sit 11th after overtaking Germany, keeping their position as the leading side in Africa and the Arab world.
Their next target is a place inside the world’s top 10, and they cannot afford any slip-ups in the next games.
