Morocco celebrates CHAN victory at official ceremony

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) held an official ceremony on Monday at the Mohammed VI Complex to honor the players and staff of the national team who recently won the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa presided over the event, which brought together the entire Moroccan football family to celebrate the continental triumph.

During the ceremony, Lekjaa read a congratulatory message from King Mohammed VI to the Atlas Lions local team.

Lekjaa expressed his gratitude to all members of the national team, including players, technical staff, medical team, and administrators.

“Morocco fully deserved this African title,” he said, addressing the remarkable sportsmanship and athleticism of the Atlas Lions. The competition culminated last Saturday in Nairobi, with a final victory against Madagascar.

The CHAN tournament features players who compete in their home country’s domestic leagues. This victory is especially meaningful for Moroccan football’s greater development.

Following the victory, which has fueled the team’s aspirations, Moroccan national coach Tarik Sektioui said that his next ambition is to secure the Arab Cup title in Qatar.

In his post-victory statements, Sektioui dedicated the third CHAN title to King Mohammed VI, noting that “if Moroccan football has reached such heights, it is thanks to his enlightened vision and clear-sighted strategy for the real development of national football.”

The triumph adds another chapter to Morocco’s growing success in African football competitions and opens the door for more success in the country’s sporting sector.
