Metropolitano to host 2027 UCL final; €1m bonus for Women’s Nations League final four
UEFA’s Executive Committee, meeting in Tirana, Albania, yesterday, has formally confirmed the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid will host the 2027 Champions League final. UEFA also approved €1 million for distribution to the final four teams in the 2025 Women’s Nations League finals.
The 2027 Champions League had originally been awarded to Milan and the San Siro Stadium, however UEFA removed the final over uncertainty surrounding ‘refurbishment works’ planned for the stadium.
Azerbaijan submitted a bid to host at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Baku, while Spain also submitted a bid for the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
The Metropolitano has hosted the Champions League final before, in 2019, when Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final.
UEFA also awarded the 2027 Women’s Champions League final hosting to Poland’s National Stadium in Warsaw.
