3×3 Tour will be thrilling, exciting - Chairman FIBA Africa 3×3 Council, Frank Jituboh

The Chairman of the FIBA Africa 3x3 Council, says basketball lovers will be thrilling and served unforgettable slamming and dunking experience during the 2nd edition of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 3×3 Tour, set to take place in Accra, the Ghanaian capital.

He stated that the highly anticipated event will live up to expectations as the organisers of the Tour as all the needed hands are on deck to organise a befitting and cliff hanging tournament.

“We anticipate a thrilling competition that will not only crown champions but also foster camaraderie and the growth of 3x3 basketball in West Africa,” he said.

He gave this assurance during an interview with newsmen, emphasizing the need for 3x3 basketball to be given more projection in West Africa.

“3×3 basketball is recognized for its fast pace and dynamic gameplay, has been growing rapidly worldwide and was officially included in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. This event in Accra is a vital step in strengthening the sport’s foundation in Africa, providing young athletes with opportunities to showcase their skills on a prominent stage,” he added.

The 'Gateway to Africa' as Ghana is fondly called will be hosting 30 teams from across the Zone for 4 days in a fierce, gruelling and equally exciting competition for the championship titles. 

The historic event is scheduled for September 25 to 27, with teams arriving a day earlier on September 24th. 

The highly esteemed event is organized by FIBA Africa Zone 3, under the superintendence of Retired Colonel Samuel Ahmedu, in partnership with the FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival, Dreams Paris, and the Ghana Basketball Association, led by President Ato Van-Ess.

The competition will feature male and female clubs from member countries within Zone 3, which includes:

★ Nigeria 
★ Togo
★ Burkina Faso
★ Benin
★ Liberia
★ Ghana
★ Niger Republic 

He explained that participants will only be responsible for their own transportation to and fro Accra for the tournament.
