Squash Masters to feature iconic show court
Squash Australia has partnered with Karrinyup, the largest shopping centre in the region, for the flagship event, set to take place in Perth from 30 August to 6 September 2026, announced the sport's global governing body last week.
"The opportunity to stage world-class squash in such a high-traffic, high-profile location like Karrinyup is a game-changer for the sport. This partnership puts squash front and centre – literally – and showcases the energy, excitement, and inclusiveness of the World Masters to new audiences," said Squash Australia CEO Robert Donaghue.
For the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships, the retail destination will host an all-glass squash court at its centre, providing a one-of-a-kind sporting showcase for visitors and fans. With more than 13.4 million visitors annually, Karrinyup will provide an unprecedented platform for global squash athletes to compete in full public view.
"It is exciting to have the all-glass court set up in Karrinyup for the forthcoming 2026 World Squash Masters Championships. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on this court which will be a centre piece of the championships," added Garry Irwin, chair of the World Squash Masters Commission.
The 'centre takeover' planned during the event will transform the retail precinct into a vibrant sporting arena, offering both world-class high-performance action and community engagement in one of Perth's most iconic venues.
"The City of Stirling is going to be the centre of the squash world next year – and we can't wait. From the games in Mirrabooka to the finals at the magnificent glass show court at Karrinyup, it's going to be a fantastic week. We're looking forward to welcoming a huge contingent of interstate and international visitors," City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin commented.
The World Squash Masters Championships is set to attract thousands of international and domestic competitors aged 35 and over, alongside their families, spectators, officials, and sport tourists to the region. This partnership underscores the event's commitment to innovation, inclusion, legacy and community integration.
