Kano contingent to hit Asaba for Youth Games by air

The over 170 members of Team Kano to the 9th National Youth Games (NYG), are expected to leave the state to Asaba, the Delta State capital by airplane.
This cheering news was made public on Tuesday in Kano.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had approved the state contingent to be airlifted by airplane as part of his administration's commitment to improve the conducive atmosphere for the athletes and coaches while in Asaba.
The 2025 National Youth Games is to commence from August 29 to September 6, while 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja are expected to attend the championships.
The acting chairman of Kano state Sports Commission, Ibrahim Umar Fagge expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sponsoring the entire contingent by airplane.
Ibrahim Umar Fagge assured that the state athletes would do their best to ensure they reciprocate government gestures by excelling in the games.
The Stephen Keshi Stadium will serve as the main venue, with teams beginning to arrive from August 26 in preparation for the opening ceremony.
The Games will feature no less than 37 sports across multiple venues, including the Stephen Keshi Stadium and its Indoor Sports Hall, multi-purpose halls, Government House Squash Court, Asaba Sports Club, Anglican Girls Grammar School, and Commissioner’s Quarters.
The Games expected to compete include table tennis, karate, para-table tennis, and weightlifting, badminton, athletics, wrestling, chess, kickboxing, tennis, and Abula.
Other Games are deaf athletics, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, ayo, kungfu, para powerlifting, basketball, fives, squash, scrabble, gymnastics, shooting, swimming, beach volleyball, boxing, football, cricket, cycling, darts, golf, handball, hockey, rugby 7, kokowa, and volleyball.
Team Delta is the reigning champions of the previous edition, while other States like Lagos, Edo, Rivers, Kano and Ogun states are expected to push for the top positions at the end of the Games.
