Team Edo glows in para powerlifting, karate, judo

Team Edo athletes mined more medals on Day 7 of the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged, Gateway Games, taking place in the ancient rock city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, South West, Nigeria.
The Heartbeat of the Nation extended its impressive performance at the sports feast with the para athletes and karate events, securing 3 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Daniel Omogbai opened the medalgates for Team Edo in 107kg male category, of Para Powerlifting claimed a Gold medal with a lift of 200kg to defect Obinna from Abia state.
Musa Muhammad won Silver in the +107kg for Team Edo with Hycent Nnaji also securing silver in the 72kg.
In Karate, Wilkinson Agbeishoma clinched Gold in the +84kg Male Kumite category of the combat sport
Team Edo is pushing close to the top three in the medal table as the heartbeat state still eyes more gold in their strongholds which includes boxing, kickboxing, athletics, gymnastics and cricket.
Boxing competition continues on Monday morning as wrestling events begin at Civic Centre, Obafemi Awolowo square, Ikenne, Ogun State.
The Handball male teams of team Edo are also in the semi-finals.
