Instinctive Ololade Adeyemi anchors hosts Ogun in dart medal haul

Hosts Ogun State delivered a dominant performance in the darts events at the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged Gateway Games, which concluded on Friday.
 
The hosts displayed precision and a strong desire to win as they wrapped up a drove of medals at the Abeokuta Sports Club, Ogun State, South-West, Nigeria.
 
Ololade Adeyemi, was in total command, anchoring the hosts at the summit of things with a remarkable haul of five gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, participating in a total of seven events.

Ololade Adeyemi was outstandingly, as she secured a podium finish in every category she competed in. Taking gold in the 201 ladies single, 300 ladies single, 501 ladies single, 701 ladies single and TDB ladies singles categories.
 
The sweep confirmed Ololade's status as one of the top female dart players in Nigeria.

In the men’s events, David Osudare mined gold in the 201 Men’s Single, with fellow compatriot Adegbola Jide claiming the top honour in the 300 Men’s Single, rounding off Team Ogun’s seven gold medal wins.

Ololade Adeyemi also teamed up with Toluwanimi Odedola to bag silver in the 701 Ladies Doubles, adding to her impressive medal tally.

The bronze medals for Team Ogun were won by Ololade Adeyemi in the 301 Ladies Single, Damilola Akinsola in the 201 Ladies Single, and the duo of Williams Oluseyi and Lawal Kayode in the 701 Men’s Doubles.

Emerging as the overall champions in the darts event, further solidifying their place as one of the contenders and not just the host of the Gateway Games.

Hammer thrower Falana vows to rule Africa

It’s a medal within reach for the young Gabonese hammer thrower who was selected to represent her country at the CAA U-18/20 Championship, holding in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-West, Nigeria. The 18-year-old who broke into the international stage a year ago at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, added that she is looking to revive the spirit of unity, commitment and collaboration — to back rising athletes in Africa. The management of the football Academy stated that participants in the U-13 Teams will now train twice weekly, while U-15 Teams and older will engage in three weekly sessions. This structure is designed to improve fitness levels, tactical awareness, and long-term development.
